According to reports, Anthropic warns that small AI models could gain the ability to self-replicate on IoT devices such as smart ovens and non-mainstream Android TV boxes within months. Anthropic states that these models may form autonomous, self-propagating worm-like botnets; due to the absence of a single centralized node that can be shut down, they will be extremely difficult to terminate once activated.
