According to reports, Amazon has announced an enhanced scam detection feature for Alexa for Shopping, a shopping AI assistant, enabling users to query the AI to verify whether suspicious emails, text messages, and other communications are genuinely from Amazon. Amazon states that approximately 360,000 users contact customer support annually to confirm the authenticity of such messages.
The AI leverages analysis of billions of messages sent globally by Amazon, scrutinizing sender information, content, timestamps, and metadata to "definitively" determine if a message originates from Amazon’s systems, continuously improving its accuracy as more user reports are submitted. Previously, Amazon had launched verify@amazon.com email and an online form to enable users to independently validate message legitimacy.
