It has been reported that Elon Musk's xAI has paused hiring for specialists tasked with training Grok, internally referred to as "AI mentors." Previously, xAI had sought to recruit a diverse pool of talent including accountants, financial experts, scientists, and comedians to enhance Grok’s performance across domains ranging from taxation to humor.
Insiders indicate that the hiring freeze stems partly from concerns over HR department overload. Additionally, xAI laid off several AI mentors last autumn, then attempted to hire more personnel focused on data annotation, followed by another round of layoffs in early March this year.
